Destroyed or undeveloped roads, sewerage and lack of water supply, long-distance medical dispensaries, social exclusion and school dropout are some of the problems faced by some disadvantaged communities.
Disadvantaged communities in Rediu, Slobozia and Iasi
Even if they are located at a very short distance from the big cities, many villages or communes are pressured by elementary deficiencies. Poor or non-existent roads, lack of running water or sewerage, transportation, health care or equipped schools are factors that influence the quality of life of entire human communities. The Somerset Romania Foundation together with sponsors, volunteers and sometimes state institutions in cooperation with the European Union make huge efforts to improve the quality of life of some target communities. This fight never stops but the results start to appear unexpectedly fast.
